Penetration testing, more casually known as pentesting, is simply authorized hacking. Hacking is usually viewed as a negative thing, but this is when pentesting is not taken into account, hence why pentesting is also known as ethical hacking. Pentesting is extremely useful to any business with an online presence. Many people hire pentesters to hack into their systems! This allows non-malicious hackers to find vulnerabilities in a company's system or websites before malicious hackers do. Companies can know what vulnerabilities they can fix before they are actually exploited.
